My final production assignment at UIUC before graduation is centered around an Automation and Rigging Lab. The primary objective of this project is to transform a former storage area into a dedicated laboratory space. The lab will be divided into two sections featuring a rigging area and an automation area. The rigging side will be equipped with various components, including trusses for training purposes such as fall arrest, chain motors, and other essential rigging techniques. The other half will be a space where students can gain hands-on experience in cueing, installing, and operating basic automation systems. This section will include straight and curved deck tracks, a center drive, a friction-driven turntable, and a manual single-purchase lineset that can be operated either manually or with the assistance of a lifting winch.
